Passport Reborn

The best thing about being part of Passport’s rebirth is that all of us here get to focus on the future.  In the coming weeks and months we’ll be sharing news of the changes, like all new tech support system and our first truly international version of Encore, to name just two.  Change is coming, and we can’t wait.

But part of the Passport future is our commitment to continuity.  In other words, what you will not see is change for the sake of change.  We know what you like about our products – it’s what we like about our products, too – and we want you to know that.

The Passport family of products will continue to be built from the point of view of the end user – you – the composer, the arranger, the musician.  It’s why our interface has been and will continue to be consistent, intuitive and easy to use.

Continuity means that even though you may have purchased your product license 20 years ago, you will still pay only the upgrade price on new product versions.  That’s the Passport way.

Did we mention a lifetime of support?  Yeah, we do that.

So stop back.  There will be news.

Thanks. I've always appreciated the very easy way you put powerful tools in my hands as a composer and songwriter.

James, we can talk in English too... Although it's not my motherlanguage I hope to make myself understood. :-) It's a pity that we can't quote each another, but we're forced to always open new thread...
Anyway, let's see what's going to happen with Passport... I remember as it were yesterday when I bought Encore 2.x, directly from Passport, that run under MacOS. Several things have changed since then but, as far as I experienced, something stopped Encore's developing.
Let's hope this is the right moment.
As far as I know, Encore 5.06 is sadly still full of bugs, that's why i'm using Sibelius 6

Would y'all speak in english? I am in the Washington State of the United States. No one will help me, I have hundred of dollars worth of software which is basically worthless to me if I cannot enter notes from my digital piano. do you have a suggestion about how to configure my computers to allow note entry from my digital piano?

Passport Music Software has been ardently developing since our inception in August.

Updates for Windows and Mac are currently being served as we continue on our path to the complete and total modernization of the source code of MasterTracks Pro 7 and Encore 6.

We have our collective nose to the grindstone, please expect news through an email about new versions over the next month.

Pleased to see you really mean what you say. I bought my original copy of MusicTime 2.0 back in 1994 (yes, 20 years ago) and like you say I was still allowed to buy the upgrade version today.... Well done!

Great to have you back. But... I've emailed you folks twice about my inability to install the latest Encore 5.0.7 update onto my 13" MBP and not heard back. The installer craps out at the end and there are no answers to my particular problem on your web site.

    HELP!

I'm a user of MasterTracksPro and MusicTime since 1995 and I've never have had problems with it. Recently I bought Encore 5.0.4 and I love it. And yes I've still pay only the upgrade price. Thump up for Passport!
Now I'm still waiting for the new MasterTracksPro to get the full Passport power for my passion.

Look for Encore 6 in about a year or so which will address this function as well as adding some new functionality. But most important, we are modernizing Encore so that it will be viable and competitive.

The previous owner of Encore spent most of their money paying back creditors from their bankruptcy. Very little was left over for development. Passport Music Software, LLC has invested and continues to invest, through current sales, in the development needed for us to reach this goal.

SO GLAD TO KNOW YOU'RE BACK, PASSPORT! Encore was just languishing in the hands of GVOX. The glitch with switching a single tab note from one string to another was there FOR YEARS, making the software unusable! Now Encore is back in Passport's hands and what do you know, IT'S FIXED!

I have spent easily over a thousand hours creating scores with Encore, and I have loved the software since I bought it on two 3.5-inch floppies. When you spend that much time with a program, you develop such a deep connection with it. Again, so glad Encore is home and Passport is back!

Wow... MTP was my first Mac Sequencer way back in the mid-80's - nice to see it's staging a comeback!
Looking forward to MTP 7, and any hints as to what will be updated? Will it still be MIDI only? Audio capability? Plugins? :)

Richard, my wife has been using Passport Products for the past nearly 50 years and has created nearly 900 Encore files of  composition which have been used in musical shows, etc. for more than 40 years. She is now 91 years old and still pretty sharp and should be able to work her Encore 5 plus updated program on her computer. Getting a new score up is giving her trouble, like getting stems installed on the notes she plays in on her keyboard. Is there any hope the this buggy program will soon have a fix for her or should she just resign. Our large family is full of professional musicians thanks to her but they would have problems with her updated Encore5, and do. Even the PHd's out of So. Cal. and Rice U. Should she hang in for some fixes for our current program. How long?

re Request #9660 I'm getting the feeling Passport Designs is in idle mode in regard to Encore. Which is why I've drifted over to Sibelius and Finale. I get immediate responses to queries regarding their software. Not so with Encore, my inquiry regarding easier entry of grace notes goes unanswered.
Evidently "Please enter the details of your request. A member of our support staff will respond as soon as possible." means more than a month for the 'as soon as possible' part
